Fast editing
Fast video editor for vertical format
A fast editor removes steps rather than adding features: in VerCut you open the file, place the 9:16 crop and download the MP4. That is three actions, with nothing to install and no render queue, because the video is processed on your machine.
What actually makes an editor slow
Time is not lost moving the mouse: it is lost in everything around it. Uploading an 800 MB file, waiting for a server to process it, installing an 800 MB app or hunting for the effect three menu levels down. Each of those is a minute that does not come back.
- Upload: the whole file travels before you start. On mobile data that can cost more than the edit.
- Render queue: the job waits its turn behind other users.
- Installation and mandatory account: two screens before the first useful click.
- Too many features: every extra panel is a decision to make.
The three steps, concretely
Open the video
Drop the file and it opens instantly, because it is read from disk. There is no upload bar because there is no upload.
Frame the 9:16
Drag the box onto the subject; the corners zoom. If the clip has several shots, split it on the timeline and adjust the framing per segment.
Export
You download an MP4 1080×1920 with H.264 and AAC. Export time depends on your machine and the duration, not on bandwidth.
How long it really takes
There is no single number: the export walks the clip once and encodes it, so one minute of video takes roughly what your machine takes to encode one minute at 1080×1920. A recent laptop finishes well under real time; an old phone may take longer than the clip. What never happens is the queue, because there is none.
What this editor does not do
- It does not add automatic or manual captions.
- It has no music, effects, text or transitions.
- It does not composite layers or video tracks.
- It does not track the subject automatically.
When it is the wrong tool
If the job needs burned-in captions, licensed music, text animations or multiple layers, this editor falls short and it is fair to say so. It does one thing: turning a horizontal clip into a clean vertical one, framed where you want it, in the same session you open it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account to edit?
To open the editor and frame the crop, no. To download the MP4, yes: a free account, no card. The free plan includes one export a week at 1080p with a watermark.
How long does an export take?
It depends on the machine and the duration. The export walks the clip once and encodes it locally, with no queue. A recent laptop usually runs under real time; an old phone may take longer than the clip itself.
Does it work offline?
The first visit needs a network to load the application. The video never travels to a server, even online, and rendering is local: your connection does not affect export speed.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes, on Chrome for Android and Safari 16.4 or later on iOS. The interface collapses to one column: frame on the source first, then check the 9:16 output.
Can I change clip speed?
Yes: between 0.25× and 2×, with the arrows on the speed control. It affects playback and the exported file, not keyframe positions.
Does it handle long clips?
There is no hard limit, but export time grows with duration and the browser has to hold the clip in memory. For anything longer than a few minutes, export only the segment you are going to publish.
